Meet Patrick
Hey everyone, Patch here! Well, my real name is Patrick, but most everyone calls me Pat or Patch. I love to laugh or try to make people laugh! My main goal in life is to make a difference. When all is said and done, I want to be able to look back on my life and know that I made a difference in this world. I guess that's why I became a teacher--so that I can impact my student's lives. The other part is why I want to be a dad--so that I can share my experiences and advice and life lessons with a child of my own; and so that they can go make their own impact in the world. Here's my story...
I was born and raised in Layton, and I've lived here all my life. I grew up in a family of 5, with all 3 of us kids being boys! My mom really wanted a girl, but dad said 3 strikes and you're out. It was a lot of fun being boys, and not having to worry about a sister; although I look back now and kind of wish that I had at least one. Paul is the middle brother, and is only few years younger than me. Mark is the youngest, and is two years younger than Paul.
With 3 young boys what did you expect---we got in trouble all the time, and we could never get along. :P We are all close, and although we didn't get along all the time when we were young, we get along great now! We were all involved in sports--constantly. Basketball, football, and baseball, we were always playing sports, or just playing in general. We had video games and technology, but nothing like today---besides we loved being outside and playing with our neighborhood friends.
Mom and Dad did sacrificed everything that they could to make sure that they could give us the best childhood possible. We usually went camping every couple of months in our travel trailer, and we traveled all over the western half of the U.S. in it. It was a lot of fun being able to travel all over and see sites and spend time with family. Mom and dad sacrificed even more when they got all of the boys dirtbikes when we were older. We raced nearly every weekend for a few years, all over the state. Anyone knows that these hobbies are not exactly the cheapest and are very time consuming. I thank them for giving us such an awesome childhood, and I look to that example for what I want to be able to give my kids; not to mention I know that they will make for some awesome grandparents one day!
I look forward to being able to provide these kinds of experiences and opportunities for children of our own one day. Whether it's sports, camping, motorcycles, or whatever hobbies they'll have interests in, I want to be able to share my advice and experiences with our kids. I would love to teach our child the importance of character, honesty, discipline, integrity, having a good work ethic, and working hard for the things that you want in life. Life is about working hard, but enjoying the little things, too. Work hard, play harder! :) I want to share the importance of faith and religion with them, but to be open and respectful of others and their religions. I'm excited to share experiences with them, give advice, put band-aids on scuffed knees, wipe away tears, to smile big, and laugh as much as we can!
